Creating Frank Brown

How the Character of Frank Brown, “The Claims Adjuster,” Was Born

Every character starts with a spark. For Frank Brown, it began with a vintage tie clip inscribed with “YKDB” — shorthand for You Can’t Do Business Sitting on Your Ass. Popular in the 1940s–60s, this phrase inspired the idea of a hustling, door-to-door insurance salesman. But what if that salesman lived a double life as a hitman?

Building a Backstory from Vintage Finds

Jimmy G pieced together Frank Brown’s persona through props and antiques:

  • A plastic pocket protector from an old insurance company

  • A 1950s–60s fedora from Dobbs Fifth Avenue

  • A vintage thermos for his “lunch”

  • A copy of Catcher in the Rye as his unsettling reading material

  • Leather gloves, sunglasses, and even a Coca-Cola ice pick as a silent weapon

Each detail reinforced the retro aesthetic of a hitman stuck in another era.

The Signature Weapons of Frank Brown

No character is complete without tools of the trade. Frank Brown carries two standout firearms:

Savage Stevens 311H Double Barrel Shotgun (Custom Short-Barrel)

  • Cut to a 12-inch barrel with a custom Picatinny rail and big-dot sight

  • Stock reshaped to mimic the end of a femur bone

  • Cerakoted in matte black and OD green, accented by a Marine Corps red safety

Smith & Wesson Model 36 Chief’s Special (.38 Special Revolver)

  • A family heirloom dating back to 1969, originally purchased by Jimmy’s uncle

  • A compact revolver that perfectly fits Frank’s mid-century vibe

The Claims Adjuster Persona

In Jimmy’s words: “If you meet Frank Brown, your life insurance form has been finalized and signed. You’re done.”
This chilling concept leaves the door open for more stories about the mysterious hitman. Who are his clients? Who are his targets? The ambiguity is part of the fun.
