Don't Dress Up Your Everyday Carry

Why You Should Think Twice Before “Decorating” Your Carry Gun

When it comes to everyday carry, your firearm is more than just gear—it’s a responsibility. In his latest video, Jimmy G (aka the Italian Guerilla Gorilla) shares why adorning your weapon with flashy designs, edgy slogans, or political statements might hurt more than it helps—especially in the courtroom.

A Serious Tool, Not a Billboard

Jimmy starts with a straightforward reminder: your firearm is a tool, not a fashion statement. Mechanical upgrades for better performance or reliability are one thing—but flashy Cerakote paint jobs, Punisher skull backplates, or barrels engraved with “Smile, Wait for Flash” can send the wrong message. Not just to onlookers, but to judges and juries.

The Legal Fallout of Customization

In a self-defense incident, every detail can be scrutinized. A slick-looking gun with jokes or slogans etched into it might come across as aggressive or cavalier. Jimmy warns that prosecutors or opposing attorneys in civil suits could argue your intent wasn’t self-defense—but a desire for confrontation.

It gets worse in civil court. Unlike criminal cases, which require proof beyond a reasonable doubt, civil cases are decided by a “preponderance of evidence.” That means 51% to 49% could lose you everything. If your weapon looks like it belongs in a video game or a political rally, you're handing them ammo—literally and figuratively.

Avoid "Zombie" and "Big Game" Ammo

Jimmy also advises against carrying novelty ammunition designed for zombies or large game. These gimmicks, he says, can easily backfire in court. The wrong bullet branding could imply you view attackers as animals—or monsters—to be hunted, not threats to be stopped.

Keep It Simple, Keep It Safe

His advice? Keep your EDC firearm basic and professional. Functional upgrades like better sights or grip tape are fine. But avoid anything that changes the weapon’s tone from “necessary evil” to “tacticool war toy.” You don’t want a jury questioning your motives based on aesthetics.

This isn’t about style—it’s about safety, responsibility, and common sense.

“It’s just a tool that unfortunately had to be used,” Jimmy says. “It’s not a billboard.”
